Audio purists will argue that when it is time to use a direct box, it is best to use an active one. Basically, an active direct box has an internal preamplifier, while a passive direct box does not. The Rolls ADB2 is powered by standard microphone phantom power from 9 to 48 VDC and uses a discrete low-noise differential driver to make it very quiet. The Rolls ADB2 features two 1/4 inch input jacks wired in parallel, along with a male XLR output. A three-position attenuator as well as ground lift switches round out the offerings of the Rolls ADB2.
